Two Month Photos

Ela is modeling the onesie that Brian got me for Mother's Day (when Ela was still in my belly). He got it at a local craft fair, and later on we got the matching hat when the craftsperson had a booth at the farmers' market.

Looking adorable, as usual.

Couch time with Mom.

Hands are yummy.

First Thanksgiving

The Kraft family went to Grandma's house for Thanksgiving. There was all kinds of wonderful food, of course, but the best part about the holiday was introducing Ela to family that she hadn't yet had the chance to meet. She spent some time with her Aunt Maggie (Uncle John was there too, but he just waived to her from the sidelines).

Ela had lots of fun chillin' with cousin Caitlin.

She also spent some wonderful time with cousin Allison. I have very clear memories
of holding Allison right after she was born, so I love to now see her holding Ela.

"Whoa... Is that a bear?"

"Ok... this guy's pretty cool."

A bit of holiday angst.

Enjoying her time with Allison and Ryon. (And rocking those striped tights, it must be said.)

Meeting Bompa

Earlier this month Ela's grandpa ("Bompa") flew in from Missouri for a visit. He stayed for a couple of days and spent lots of time holding Ela and getting to know her. He also helped Brian take care of Ela when I had to leave in the evening for orchestra rehearsal.

Bompa and Ela.

Bouncing her when she was fussy.

Ela also got the chance to meet her Uncle Patrick, who came by with his mom Shayne for a visit.

Saying hello.

Ela in the Shower

Water, warm water, you make me feel at home. The droplets dance about my skin like crackling flames in a festive fireplace. I listen to the sound, it is white and soothing. As Mommy holds me near, pools collect between our skin just long enough to work their magic, before falling away to make room for more...

...And as I snuggle up to Mommy, the tactile sensations, so strong, but not overwhelming, my gaze is no longer darting and curious, but rather turned inwardly vacant to focus on completely different matters. My arms no longer flail in uncertainty, as they are right where they need to be, tucked close in comfort to Mommy and me. I know no hunger, I know no sleepiness. I do know this place. Water, warm water, you make me feel at home.

TJ's Rainbow Dress

Ela's cousin TJ at the NYC gay pride parade. Her dad bought her a stylish rainbow tie-dye dress for the event.

TJ decided to pass the dress on to Ela. She wore it when we went out to dinner with
Grandmommy, Grandma, and Papa John.

Stylish clothes are no reason not to do tummy time!

Grandma Anne and Ela Anne

Grandma Anne likes to sit in the beautiful antique rocking chair she got for Ela and read books to her on a quiet afternoon. Ela is quite keen on this too!

Grandma Anne and Ela relaxing in the rocking chair.

It's very peaceful with Grandma Anne.

Grandma Anne is fascinated with the array of facial
expressions Ela displays, even when she's asleep.

Special times with baby Ela and her Grandma.
